Stencils / Step Stencil

Step Stencil

A variable-thickness stencil for mixed paste volumes on one board.

A step stencil is etched to different thicknesses in different areas, so fine-pitch parts get a thin deposit while large pads and connectors get more paste. It's a specialist option for boards that mix very fine-pitch ICs with big through-hole-reflow or connector pads.

When to use it

Reach for it only when one board genuinely mixes very fine and very coarse features.

Also known as: stepped stencil, multi-level stencil
